Pointing your own domain at Traxio and managing DNS records.
DNS is the layer that connects the domain you own to the server your files sit on, and it is where most new hosting accounts get stuck. The articles here cover pointing a domain at Traxio, editing individual records, and understanding why a change you made correctly still is not visible yet.
Two things are worth knowing before you start. Propagation is real but usually much faster than the 48 hours people quote — most changes are live within an hour or two. And if you use Cloudflare or another proxy, your records point at that service rather than at us, which is fully supported. See DNS Explained for the background.
Common questions
How long does DNS propagation actually take?
Usually one to two hours for a nameserver change, not the 48 hours often quoted. Your own computer caches results aggressively, so your site may look unchanged to you long after it has switched for everyone else — try mobile data to check.
Can I use Cloudflare with Traxio?
Yes, fully. Leave your nameservers pointing at Cloudflare and add an A record there pointing at your Traxio server IP. Proxied domains pass our automated domain checks, because we verify that requests reach our servers rather than inspecting your A record.
My email stopped working after I changed nameservers. Why?
Changing nameservers moves your MX records too. If your email is hosted elsewhere — Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or another provider — you need to re-add those MX records in the DirectAdmin DNS editor. This catches people out regularly.
