How domain transfers work

Get your EPP code Log into your current registrar and request the transfer authorisation code (also called an EPP or auth code).

Unlock your domain Ensure your domain is unlocked at your current registrar. Most registrars have a lock setting in the domain management area.

Initiate the transfer Start a domain transfer in your Traxio client area and enter your EPP code. We handle the rest.

Hosting activated Once the transfer is confirmed, your free hosting account is ready. Your site continues working throughout the transfer.
Before you transfer: Your domain must be at least 60 days old and not expire within 15 days. If it's close to expiry, renew it at your current registrar first.

Which domain extensions do you support?
We support a wide range of extensions including .co.uk, .com, .net, .org, .uk, .online, .info, .biz, and many more. Check the domain search tool for current availability and pricing on your preferred extension.
Can I use Traxio hosting with a domain registered elsewhere?
Yes, but the free hosting offer only applies to domains registered or transferred through Traxio. If you keep your domain at another registrar, you can still purchase a paid hosting plan and point your domain's nameservers to Traxio.
How long does a domain transfer take?
.co.uk and .uk transfers typically complete within a few hours to 2 days. Generic TLD transfers (.com, .net etc) usually take 5–7 days. Your website and email continue to work normally during the transfer period.
What is WHOIS privacy and do I need it?
WHOIS privacy hides your name, address and phone number from the public WHOIS directory. Without it, that information is visible to anyone who looks up your domain. We provide WHOIS privacy for free on eligible domains — it's enabled by default where supported.
What happens if my domain expires?
We send renewal reminder emails well in advance of expiry. If a domain expires, there's usually a redemption period during which you can still recover it (often at a higher cost). After that, the domain becomes available for anyone to register. We strongly recommend enabling auto-renewal.
