The network behind every Traxio site
Where your data lives, how it's protected, and the hardware every plan runs on — no vague marketing claims, just the actual specifics.
Where your site actually lives
The hardware, the location and the protections behind every Traxio account.
Data centre location
All Traxio hosting is served from a single, purpose-built data centre in Montreal, Canada — chosen for its cool climate (reducing cooling costs passed on to customers), stable power grid, and strong connectivity to both North American and European networks.
NVMe storage throughout
Every hosting plan — including the free tier — runs on NVMe solid-state storage rather than older spinning disks or standard SSDs, meaningfully reducing file read and database query times.
DDoS protection
Network-level DDoS mitigation is active on every account by default, filtering malicious traffic before it reaches the server — no configuration or add-on required.
Redundant power & connectivity
The data centre runs on redundant power feeds with UPS and generator backup, and multiple upstream network providers, so a single point of failure doesn't take the network offline.
Automated daily backups
Accounts are backed up daily and retained on a rolling basis, stored separately from the primary storage array so a hardware fault doesn't affect both the live data and its backup at once.
Network monitoring
Server and network health are monitored continuously, with automated alerts to the infrastructure team — the same monitoring that feeds the figures shown on the status page.
The numbers, plainly stated
No "unlimited" claims that hide throttling in the small print — this is what's actually behind the hosting.
| Component | Specification |
|---|---|
| Storage | NVMe SSD, RAID-protected |
| Network uplink | Multi-homed, redundant carriers |
| DDoS protection | Always-on, network-level filtering |
| Backup frequency | Daily, retained on a rolling basis |
| Power | Redundant feeds, UPS and generator backup |
| Uptime target | 99.9% (see live status for actuals) |
| Control panel | DirectAdmin with Softaculous |
| SSL | Free, automatically issued and renewed |
One region, done properly
Traxio currently operates from a single data centre rather than a multi-region network. For the shared hosting plans Traxio offers, this keeps costs — and prices — lower without the added complexity of multi-region replication most small sites never actually need.
If your project specifically requires multi-region hosting or edge distribution, that's a genuine reason to look at infrastructure-focused providers built for that use case. For everything else — blogs, small business sites, portfolios, and most WordPress installs — a single, well-run region with solid uptime is the right tool for the job.
Montreal servers, UK visitors: what that actually means
Physical distance sets a floor on latency that no hardware upgrade can remove: a round trip between the UK and eastern Canada typically adds several tens of milliseconds compared with a London datacentre. We would rather state that than dress the site in Union Jacks and hope nobody runs a traceroute — plenty of “UK hosting” is marketed exactly that way, from behind a CDN, with the servers anywhere at all.
Here is why the number matters less than it sounds. The transatlantic hop is paid once per connection, while most of what a visitor experiences — server processing time, image weight, render-blocking assets — is paid on top of it wherever the server sits. A cached page on fast storage served from Montreal comfortably beats an uncached, bloated page served from London. The ordered fixes in the speed guide dwarf the geography for a typical small site; and if your audience is genuinely latency-sensitive, putting a CDN in front of any host — ours included — moves your static assets to every continent at once.
What the location buys in exchange is the economics this whole product depends on: hosting a full DirectAdmin account at £0.99 a month is possible partly because we are not paying London-datacentre premiums for it. That is the trade, stated plainly — and the 30 free days exist so you can measure it against your own site rather than take either our word or a competitor's.
