How it works

From sign-up to day 31, with nothing hidden

Exactly what happens when you start with Traxio: what you do, what we do automatically, and what it costs at each step.

The steps

  1. Minute 1

    Sign up. No card.

Enter your details and the domain you’ll use, and that’s it. No payment details are asked for. Your account is created automatically.

  2. Minute 5

    Your welcome email arrives

It has your logins for two places: the client area (billing, invoices and your account) and DirectAdmin (your website, email and files).

    Client area vs DirectAdmin
  3. Day 1 Important

    Point your domain at Traxio

Change your domain’s nameservers at your registrar to Traxio’s, which are also in your welcome email: ns1.traxio.co.uk, ns2.traxio.co.uk and ns3.traxio.co.uk.

Do this on the day you sign up. During the free trial, DNS Guard checks that your domain points here; an account whose domain hasn’t pointed to Traxio for 24 hours in a row (and is at least 48 hours old) can be suspended until it does. Nothing is deleted, and it restores automatically.

Connect your domain, step by step
  4. Days 1–30 Free

    Build your website

Install WordPress in one click, or upload a site you’ve made. Create your email address, check the HTTPS padlock, and take a backup. Everything works exactly as it will after the trial.

  5. Day 30

    Your first invoice: £0.99

As the free period ends, you’re emailed an invoice for your first month. Nothing is taken automatically unless you’ve added a card.

    How billing works
  6. Day 31 onwards £0.99/month

    Pay it, and carry on

Pay the invoice in the client area and your hosting carries on unchanged, at the same £0.99 every month. Or don’t pay, and walk away: the account is suspended on day 7 after the invoice and closed on day 14. Download a backup first.

Questions about the trial and billing

Will I be charged automatically when the trial ends?

Only if you’ve chosen to add a card. Otherwise an invoice for £0.99 is issued and nothing is taken until you pay it in the client area.

What happens if I don’t pay the first invoice?

Counted from the invoice date: on day 7 the account is suspended (your site and email go offline, but your data is kept), and on day 14 it’s closed and the data is permanently deleted. You’re emailed before each step.

Why does my domain need to point to Traxio during the trial?

Because a free trial with no card attracts accounts that are never used. DNS Guard checks that each new account’s domain actually points here, and reclaims space from accounts that were never set up. It only runs for the first 30 days, suspends rather than deletes, and restores automatically once your domain points to Traxio.

How long does it take to get online?

The account is ready within minutes. Pointing your domain usually takes a few hours to update worldwide, occasionally up to 24. Installing WordPress or uploading a site then takes around ten minutes.

Can I get a refund?

No. Traxio doesn’t give refunds, because the 30 free days let you try the complete service before you pay anything. If you stop needing the hosting, cancel in the client area and the service runs to the end of the period you’ve paid for.
