What you’ll need
- Login details for your domain registrar
- Your Traxio nameservers: ns1.traxio.co.uk, ns2.traxio.co.uk, ns3.traxio.co.uk
Your domain is registered with a registrar; your website is hosted with Traxio. Changing the domain’s nameservers connects the two. After this, your website, email and SSL all use Traxio’s DNS automatically.
Before you begin: Do this on the day you sign up: during the first 30 days, DNS Guard can suspend an account whose domain hasn’t pointed to Traxio for 24 hours in a row. If this domain already has working email or other services, write down its current MX and TXT records first, or follow Moving your website and email to Traxio without downtime instead. Changing nameservers replaces all of the domain’s DNS.
Steps
Step 1: Log in to your registrar
Sign in to the company where you bought the domain and open the domain’s management page.
Step 2: Find the nameserver setting
Look for Nameservers, DNS servers or Use custom nameservers. It’s on the domain’s own page, not account settings. Where to change nameservers at your domain registrar
Step 3: Switch to custom nameservers
Choose the custom option, remove every existing nameserver, and enter:
ns1.traxio.co.uk ns2.traxio.co.uk ns3.traxio.co.ukNo
http://, no trailing dot. Save.Step 4: Turn off forwarding or parking
If the registrar offered web forwarding or a parking page for the domain, turn it off.
Step 5: Wait, then check the nameservers
Give it 15–30 minutes, then run a WHOIS or NS lookup for your domain, or on a computer:
nslookup -type=ns yourdomain.co.ukYou should see Traxio’s three nameservers. How to check your domain is pointing to Traxio
Step 6: Check the domain resolves to your server
Compare
nslookup yourdomain.co.ukwith the A record shown in Account Manager then DNS Management. When they match, the domain points to your hosting.
Check it worked
An NS lookup shows Traxio’s nameservers, and http://yourdomain.co.uk shows your Traxio hosting (a placeholder page or your site) in a private window on mobile data.
