Honest advice for a first website
Get a domain first. Traxio hosting doesn’t include a domain name, so you’ll need one before you sign up. Pick something short that’s easy to say out loud.
Use WordPress unless you have a reason not to. It’s free, it runs a huge share of the web, and there’s a theme for almost everything. Traxio installs it for you.
Do the setup in order. Connect the domain, wait for it to work, then install your site. Doing it the other way round is the most common reason beginners get stuck. The first website checklist puts everything in the right order.
Use the free month properly. Build the real site, send real email and take a backup. By day 30 you’ll know if Traxio suits you, and you’ll have spent nothing finding out.
Is Traxio right for a beginner?
Yes, if you’re happy to follow a guide. Here’s the honest picture.
Great for you if
- You want to learn how your website works
- You’re happy to follow step-by-step guides
- You want a real website on your own domain
- You’d like to try it free before paying
Probably not for you if
- You want someone else to build the site for you
- You need to phone someone for help
- You’d rather use an all-in-one website builder

Beginner questions
Do I need to know how to code?
No. WordPress installs in one click and you build pages in a visual editor. Everything else is done by clicking through DirectAdmin, and there’s a guide for each job.
What’s the difference between a domain and hosting?
The domain is your address (yourname.co.uk). Hosting is where the website lives. You need both, and you connect them by changing your domain’s nameservers. More on this
Is 3GB enough for a first website?
Easily. A typical WordPress site with a few hundred images uses well under 1GB.
What if I get stuck?
Search the help centre first — it’s written for beginners. If you’re still stuck, open a ticket: the AI help desk replies, and a person steps in when a ticket is escalated.
Will I be charged if I forget to cancel?
Not automatically, unless you’ve added a card. At the end of the trial you’re sent a £0.99 invoice; if you don’t pay it, the account is suspended and later closed.
