What would you like to put online?

Websites, blogs, forums, portfolios and small shops all run on the same Traxio hosting: free for 30 days, then £0.99 a month if you want to keep it. It is not free forever and it does not include a domain name, so here is what you can build, what you need and where a permanently free service might suit you better.

Who runs it
You doSelf-managed DirectAdmin hosting with Softaculous. Help is self-service. How support works

Two things to know before you start.

1. Point your domain at Traxio during your first 30 days. DNS Guard checks that your domain points to Traxio. If it fails for 24 hours in a row on an account that is more than 48 hours old, the account may be suspended, and it is restored automatically once the domain points to Traxio again. How DNS Guard works.

2. Check your billing term. The free 30 days apply to the one-month payment term, which is what every “start free” button on this site selects. Six- and twelve-month terms are also offered at checkout, but they don’t include the free trial. The order page shows exactly what you would pay before you confirm anything.

How your 30 days work

  1. Create your account. It takes a couple of minutes and needs no card.
  2. Point your domain at Traxio. Connect a domain. You can upload files before it connects.
  3. Install or upload. Install WordPress, SMF or another app with Softaculous, or upload your own files.
  4. Check the padlock and set up email. Free SSL and your first mailbox.
  5. Back up, then decide. Download a full backup. An invoice for £0.99 arrives at the end of the trial; keep the site by paying it, or take your backup elsewhere.

Common questions

Is Traxio really free?

The first 30 days are free, with no card needed to start. After that it is £0.99 a month if you choose to continue. It is not free forever. If you decide not to continue, an unpaid account is suspended 7 days after the invoice date and closed after 14, so download a full backup first. Is Traxio really free?

Do I need a domain name?

Yes. Traxio hosts a domain you already own, and does not sell domains or provide a free subdomain. A domain usually costs a few pounds a year from a registrar. Hosting vs domain name explains the difference, and using your own domain covers the setup.

Do I need a card to start?

No. You can create an account and use all 30 days without entering payment details. If you continue, payment is by card through Stripe.

Can I pay for 6 or 12 months?

The free 30 days apply to the one-month payment term, which is what every “start free” button on this site selects. Six- and twelve-month terms are also offered at checkout, but they don’t include the free trial. The order page shows exactly what you would pay before you confirm anything.

Is this managed WordPress hosting?

No. It is self-managed shared hosting with DirectAdmin. You install WordPress through Softaculous, keep it updated and look after your own backups. Daily offsite backups are taken as a courtesy with no guarantee. WordPress on Traxio explains what that means in practice.

Can I run a Minecraft or other game server?

No. Traxio hosts websites, forums and similar web applications, not game servers. It suits the website and forum for a gaming community. Gaming community hosting explains the difference.

What if my site outgrows the included space or traffic?

Every account includes 3GB of NVMe storage and 100GB of bandwidth a month, and more disk space or bandwidth can be added in the client area. Try the website size and bandwidth calculator to see where you stand.

What support do I get?

Traxio is built around self-help: the help centre, knowledge base, tutorials and quick answers cover most how-to questions. The support desk is kept for major issues such as a server or network fault. How support works.
