A price that is also the renewal price
Free for 30 days, then £0.99 a month, and £0.99 a month after that. No introductory rate, no multi-year prepayment to unlock the headline figure, no setup fee. Why that price is sustainable.
Most hosting is sold on adjectives. This section is the argument for Traxio written as specifics — what the differences actually are, where they matter, and where they do not.
There are several hundred companies selling shared hosting in the UK, and on paper most of them offer the same thing: a control panel, some storage, PHP and a database. The differences that matter are almost never in the feature list. They are in the pricing structure, in what happens at renewal, in what the limits really are once you read past the word “unlimited”, and in what support will and will not do when you open a ticket.
Traxio is built around four decisions on exactly those points. They are not all advantages — two of them are things we removed, and one of them will rule us out for some people. That is the honest way to describe a £0.99 product.
Free for 30 days, then £0.99 a month, and £0.99 a month after that. No introductory rate, no multi-year prepayment to unlock the headline figure, no setup fee. Why that price is sustainable.
3GB of NVMe storage and 100GB of bandwidth a month, stated on every page and in the terms. You can work out in advance whether that fits your site, which is not possible with “unlimited, subject to fair use”.
The 30 days start with no payment method on file. Nothing can auto-charge you, because there is nothing to charge. Exactly how the free period works.
Hosting and domain registration are separate, so your address stays at a registrar you control and moving host is a DNS change, not a negotiation. Using your own domain.
DirectAdmin, not a cut-down dashboard: file manager, DNS editor, database admin, cron, per-domain PHP switching. The same panel professional hosts run. What DirectAdmin gives you.
Support covers the hosting and the server. It does not cover debugging the website you built. Saying so up front is fairer than discovering it mid-problem. The full scope.
The two things we removed are worth naming, because removing things is not usually how hosting is marketed. There are no tiers — there used to be four and now there is one, so there is no upsell path and nothing is held back to make a higher plan look better. And there is no public support forum any more: support runs through a searchable knowledge base and then a ticket, which produces a documented answer rather than a wait to see whether another customer happens to know.
The thing that will rule us out for some people is the resource envelope. 3GB and 100GB a month is generous for a blog, a portfolio, a small business site or a starting forum. It is not enough for video or large file downloads, and we would rather say so on this page than let you find out on day twenty-nine.
The question is not whether free hosting works — sometimes it does. It is what the free host is getting out of the arrangement, and whether that cost lands on you or your visitors.
