Who Traxio is for — and who it isn't

Every host claims to suit everyone. This one does not. Here is the specific list of projects this plan fits well, the ones it fits badly, and the point at which we would tell you to spend more elsewhere.

  • No card to start
  • No setup fee
  • Then £0.99/month

One plan makes this an easy question

There is one plan. It costs £0.99 a month and includes 3GB of NVMe storage, 100GB of bandwidth, one domain, one email account, one database, and PHP and MySQL on DirectAdmin, with optional add-ons from 99p if you need more. That does most of the work in deciding whether Traxio suits you: these are well-specified shared hosting accounts, and the question is whether your project is a shared hosting project.

Below, the honest answer in both directions. The second list is longer than most hosting sites would print, which is the point — discovering a limitation after you have migrated is far more expensive than reading it now.

The four numbers that decide it

3GB NVMe storage
100GB bandwidth per month
1 domain included, with subdomains (more from 99p, one-off)
£0.99 per month, flat

Those four numbers are the whole sizing conversation. Everything below is just working out which side of them your project falls on. The full specification, including PHP versions and what is not supported, is on the specification page.

Projects this plan suits well

Bloggers and writers

A self-hosted WordPress blog with several years of posts sits well inside 3GB, and no adverts are injected into what you publish.

Hosting for personal sites →

Students and learners

A real server with a real control panel teaches more in a weekend than a localhost setup does in a month — and it costs less than a coffee a year.

Hosting for students →

Small businesses and sole traders

A brochure site plus email on your own domain, for under £12 a year, with no renewal spike waiting in year two.

Hosting for small business →

PHP developers and side projects

Per-domain PHP switching, MySQL, cron, SFTP, .htaccess control and readable error logs. A cheap real environment, as long as it is PHP.

Hosting for developers →

Portfolios and CV sites

Static HTML or a light CMS, on your own domain, permanently — rather than on a platform that may change its terms.

Hosting for portfolios →

Clubs, charities and community groups

A site and shared email for a group that has no budget line for hosting and no technical staff to look after it.

Hosting for community groups →

The two-column answer

Traxio is a good choice when…

  • Your site is content, code or a community — not a media library
  • PHP and MySQL cover what you need
  • You want the control panel and are happy to use it
  • You already own a domain, or are willing to register one
  • You would rather have a published ceiling than an unpublished one
  • You can handle your own site's code, or are willing to learn

Traxio is the wrong choice when…

  • You need Ruby or root access — not available, at any price here
  • The site serves video, large downloads or a big photo library
  • You are running a shop with real order volume
  • You need a guaranteed response time, an SLA or a phone line
  • You need somebody to maintain your website, not just host it
  • You need lots of storage for video, big photo libraries or file downloads

If you are in the right-hand column, the honest recommendation is a VPS, an application platform or a managed host — and we would rather point you there than take £0.99 for something that will not work.

If the site takes off

One case deserves spelling out because it comes up constantly: a site that is currently small but expects to grow. That is a good fit, with a caveat. Growth in content is fine — text and code are tiny, and 3GB absorbs years of it. Growth in traffic is the constraint, because 100GB a month is a real ceiling — worth watching in the panel as the site picks up.

The practical answer is to check your page weight early. A well-optimised site can serve many thousands of visits inside the allowance; an unoptimised one can burn through it at a fraction of that. If you outgrow it, everything here moves — standard DirectAdmin backups, a domain you own at a registrar you chose, no export fee and no permission needed. Being easy to leave is a design decision.

Simple web hosting for £0.99 a month

One plan with everything included. Your first 30 days are free with no card required, then it’s £0.99 a month if you choose to continue — with no setup fee and no price rise at renewal.

The hosting is self-managed through DirectAdmin, with a large knowledge base and an AI help desk that escalates to a person when needed. That’s how the price stays this low.

Fit and limits

For almost everything that is not media-heavy, comfortably. A WordPress install with several years of posts typically sits under 1GB; a static portfolio is usually under 100MB. Where 3GB runs out is video files, high-resolution photo libraries and large downloadable files. A proper estimate of what fits.
It depends on page weight far more than on visitor count. A reasonably optimised page transfers roughly 1–2MB, which puts 100GB somewhere in the region of five to ten thousand page views a month. An image-heavy page can be 5MB and cuts that by half. If you are already getting meaningful traffic, do the arithmetic before you sign up.
A small one, honestly — WooCommerce or PrestaShop will install and run, and a shop with a modest catalogue and a few orders a day fits within the limits. What does not fit is a busy shop: checkout is database-heavy and product images eat storage. If the shop is the business rather than a sideline, buy hosting sized for it.
Node.js and Python, yes: you can run apps on several versions of each, alongside PHP 7.4 through 8.3. Ruby isn’t supported, and if your project needs Ruby, root access or its own server software, a VPS or an application platform is the right tool.
One domain is included, with subdomains, so several projects can live as subdomains of a domain you own. Extra top-level domains are a £0.99 one-off add-on each, and every site shares the account’s storage and bandwidth.
