Hosting for CMS websites
Try your CMS website free for the first 30 days
Create, test and launch a website on WordPress, Joomla or Drupal before you pay anything. Your first 30 days are free with no card needed; if you keep the site, it’s £0.99 a month. It’s the same Traxio hosting every customer gets, not a special CMS plan.
- No card to start
- No setup fee
- Cancel anytime
Same Traxio hosting, same £0.99. This isn’t a separate plan — it’s the one service.
Which CMS can I run?
A content management system (CMS) lets you edit a website in your browser. These install in one click with Softaculous, the app installer in DirectAdmin.
WordPress
The most widely used CMS, for blogs, business sites and small shops. Thousands of free themes and plugins.
Joomla
A flexible CMS with multilingual sites, user access levels and menus built in.
Drupal
A structured CMS for content-heavy sites, built around content types and fields.
Forum software
phpBB, SMF and MyBB, if what you’re building is a community.
Shop software
WooCommerce on WordPress, for a small online shop.
Something you upload
Any other PHP and MySQL CMS that runs on shared hosting, uploaded by FTP or SFTP.
What a CMS needs from hosting
PHP, a database, HTTPS and a way to install updates. Every Traxio account includes all of it.
One-click installs
Softaculous installs the CMS, creates its database and sets up your admin login.
What is a CMS?PHP 7.4 to 8.3
Choose the PHP version per domain. Current Joomla and Drupal releases need PHP 8, which is ready to switch on.
Change the PHP versionA MySQL database
One is included, with phpMyAdmin. Each extra database is £0.99, paid once, if you run a second site.
Create a databaseFree SSL
HTTPS for your admin login and every page, issued and renewed automatically.

Each step links to a guide in the help centre.
Connect your domain
Point it at Traxio first, so SSL can be issued.
Check the PHP version
Set the version your CMS asks for, usually PHP 8.2 or 8.3.
Install your CMS
Pick it in Softaculous, fill in the site name and admin login, and install.
Keep it updated
Updates are your job on self-managed hosting. They take a couple of clicks.
Which CMS should you choose?
WordPress is the right answer for most people. It’s the easiest to learn, has the biggest choice of themes and plugins, and almost every question you’ll have has been answered somewhere. WordPress hosting covers it in detail.
Joomla suits sites that need more structure out of the box: several languages, different access levels for members, and complex menus, without adding plugins for each.
Drupal is built for structured content, such as directories, documentation or sites with many content types. It’s powerful, but has the steepest learning curve of the three.
Not sure? That’s what the free 30 days are for. Install two, build a page in each, and keep the one you like. Only one database is included, so remove the trial install before you add the next one, or add a second database for £0.99.

CMS hosting questions
Is there free CMS hosting?
Your first 30 days on Traxio are free, with no card needed and nothing switched off, so you can build and launch a real CMS site before paying anything. After that it’s £0.99 a month if you keep it. Only the first 30 days are free, and there are no adverts on your site at any point.
Can I install Joomla or Drupal?
Yes. Both are in Softaculous, the one-click installer in DirectAdmin. Set PHP 8.2 or 8.3 for the domain first, as current versions require PHP 8.
Is the CMS software included in the price?
WordPress, Joomla and Drupal are free, open-source software. Installing them costs nothing extra; the hosting is the only cost. Some premium themes and extensions are sold separately by their authors.
Can I run more than one CMS site?
Yes. Subdomains are included, and another domain is a £0.99 one-off. Each CMS needs its own database: one is included, and extra databases are £0.99 each, paid once.
Do you update my CMS for me?
No. Traxio is self-managed, so you install updates for the CMS, themes and extensions yourself. Keeping software updated
Can I move an existing Joomla or Drupal site to Traxio?
Yes. Copy the files, export and import the database, and update the site’s configuration file with the new database details. Importing a database
