Softaculous creates the database, uploads WordPress and runs the installer for you.
Before you start
- Your domain can still be pointing elsewhere; you can install now and view the site once DNS resolves.
- If
public_htmlalready contains files (such as a placeholderindex.html), Softaculous warns you. Remove old files you don’t need first.
Install
- Open Extra Features then Softaculous Auto Installer.
- Find WordPress and select Install.
- Choose Protocol:
https://. If your certificate hasn’t issued yet, you can switch later. How to change your WordPress site URL - Choose Domain: your domain, or a subdomain.
- In Directory: leave empty to install at
yourdomain.co.uk. Typingwpinstalls it atyourdomain.co.uk/wp. - Site Name and Site Description: change any time later.
- Admin Username: avoid
admin; choose something that isn’t your public name. - Admin Password: long and unique. Store it in a password manager.
- Admin Email: an address you check — password resets go here.
- Plugins / themes: skip optional extras unless you know you want them.
- Select Install.
It takes a minute or two. Softaculous shows the site address and the admin address, usually yourdomain.co.uk/wp-admin.
Straight after installing
- Log in and update anything that shows an update. Updating WordPress, themes and plugins safely

Managing installs later
Softaculous lists your installations, where you can back them up, clone them to a staging subdomain or remove them.
