Important: Restoring overwrites current files, databases and mailboxes with the versions in the backup. Anything created since the backup was taken is lost. Take a fresh backup of the current state first.
1. Upload the archive
Upload the backup file to the backups folder in your home directory using System Info & Files then File Manager or SFTP. Leave the file name as it was created.
2. Restore
- Open System Info & Files then Create/Restore Backups.
- Choose to restore a backup.
- Select the archive.
- Choose what to restore: everything, or only the parts you need (for example just databases).
- Start the restore and wait for the notification.
3. Check
- Visit the site in a private window
- Log in to the application admin
- Send and receive a test email
- Check DNS records if settings were restored
Restoring only part of a site
For a single file, folder or database, extracting it from the archive and restoring it manually is quicker and doesn’t overwrite everything. Restoring website files and a database manually
Backups from other hosts
DirectAdmin backups from another DirectAdmin host can usually be restored this way. cPanel backups have a different format; move those sites manually. Moving your website and email to Traxio without downtime
