Does this match what you’re seeing?
- The site or admin shows a completely blank white page
- No error message appears, even in the page source
- The problem started after an update or new plugin
A white screen means PHP stopped with an error that isn’t being displayed. Find the error and the fix is usually quick.
1. Check the error log
Open System Info & Files then Site Summary / Statistics / Logs, choose the domain’s error log, reload the white page and look at the newest lines. The error names the file responsible — often a path inside wp-content/plugins/something/. How to find PHP errors (error logs and display_errors)
2. Or turn on WordPress debugging
Set WP_DEBUG_LOG in wp-config.php and check wp-content/debug.log. How to turn on WordPress debugging safely
3. Deactivate plugins without admin access
- Open System Info & Files then File Manager and go to
wp-content. - Rename
pluginstoplugins-off. - Reload the site.
If it works, rename the folder back to plugins, then rename individual plugin folders one at a time to find the culprit.
4. Switch theme
Rename your active theme’s folder in wp-content/themes. WordPress falls back to an installed default theme. If that fixes it, the theme is the problem.
5. Memory
Allowed memory size exhausted in the log means a script ran out of memory. “Allowed memory size exhausted” in WordPress
6. PHP version
Did it start after changing PHP version? Switch back and update the offending plugin. How to change the PHP version in DirectAdmin
Still blank?
Check .htaccess by renaming it and re-saving permalinks, and confirm the core files aren’t damaged by re-uploading WordPress core (everything except wp-content and wp-config.php).
