You can host your website on Traxio and use another provider for email. The DNS records decide where mail goes.
1. Verify the domain with your provider
Your provider gives you a TXT record (sometimes a CNAME) to prove you own the domain. Add it in Account Manager then DNS Management and complete verification in the provider’s admin screen. TXT records: what they’re for and how to add one
2. Replace the MX records
- In Account Manager then DNS Management, delete the MX record(s) pointing at your Traxio mail server.
- Add the MX records exactly as your provider lists them.
Google Workspace currently uses a single MX record, smtp.google.com with priority 1. Microsoft 365 gives a tenant-specific MX value in its admin centre, ending in mail.protection.outlook.com. Always copy the values from your provider’s admin screen, as they occasionally change.
3. Update SPF
Replace the SPF record so it includes the provider:
| Provider | SPF include |
|---|---|
| Google Workspace | include:_spf.google.com |
| Microsoft 365 | include:spf.protection.outlook.com |
If your website also sends mail from Traxio (contact forms, WordPress notifications), keep your server in the same record, for example v=spf1 a mx include:_spf.google.com ~all. How to set up an SPF record
4. Set up DKIM and DMARC with the provider
Generate DKIM in the provider’s admin screen and add the record it gives you. Then add a DMARC record. How to set up a DMARC record
5. Stop Traxio treating mail as local
If the domain still has Traxio mailboxes, mail sent from your own website to your own addresses may be delivered to the local mailbox instead of the provider. Remove the Traxio mailboxes you no longer use, and if messages from your site still don’t reach your provider, ask the help desk to confirm local mail delivery is disabled for the domain.
Microsoft 365 extra records
Microsoft’s admin centre also lists an autodiscover CNAME for Outlook setup. Add every record it shows as “required”.
