Client area vs DirectAdmin: which one do I use?

Traxio has two logins. The client area handles billing and the account; DirectAdmin runs the hosting. Here’s which does what.

If you can’t find a setting, the most likely reason is that you’re looking in the other system. They have separate logins and separate passwords.

The client area

Log in at the client area. Use it for anything about the account:

  • viewing and paying invoices
  • adding or changing a payment method
  • downloading invoices for your records
  • updating your contact details and client area password
  • cancelling
  • opening a ticket with the help desk

DirectAdmin

DirectAdmin is the control panel for the hosting. Use it for anything about your website, email or domain setup:

  • uploading and editing files (System Info & Files then File Manager)
  • creating email accounts (E-mail Manager then E-mail Accounts)
  • creating databases (Account Manager then MySQL Management) and opening phpMyAdmin
  • editing DNS records (Account Manager then DNS Management)
  • checking SSL (Account Manager then SSL Certificates)
  • changing the PHP version for a domain
  • cron jobs, backups and logs

How to log in to DirectAdmin explains the address and first login.

That last-but-one row catches a lot of people. Nameservers are set where the domain is registered, not where it’s hosted. See What are nameservers?.
