What you’ll need
- Your Traxio welcome email
- A password manager, or somewhere safe to store passwords
Traxio has two logins: the client area for your account and billing, and DirectAdmin for the hosting itself. By the end of this tutorial you’ll have signed in to both and replaced the starting password.
Steps
Step 1: Find your welcome email
Search your inbox for the Traxio welcome email, including spam and promotions folders. It contains your DirectAdmin login address, username, starting password and nameservers. What’s in your Traxio welcome email
Step 2: Sign in to the client area
Open the client area and sign in with the email address and password you registered with. Find your hosting service: this is where you’ll pay invoices and can see your service details if you ever lose the welcome email.
Step 3: Open DirectAdmin
Open the DirectAdmin login address from your welcome email. It ends in
:2222. Use this server address for now — your own domain won’t reach DirectAdmin until it points at Traxio.Tip: If the page times out, your network may block port 2222. Try your phone’s mobile data.
Step 4: Log in with your DirectAdmin username
Enter the username from the welcome email — not your email address — and the starting password.
Step 5: Change the DirectAdmin password
Open Account Manager then Change Password, enter the starting password, then a new long, unique password twice, and save. Store it in your password manager. How to change your DirectAdmin password
Step 6: Take a quick look around
Type DNS into the search box at the top of DirectAdmin and open the result, then do the same for File Manager. Everything in the panel can be found this way. A tour of the DirectAdmin dashboard
Check it worked
You can log in to DirectAdmin with your new password in a private browser window, and your client area shows the hosting service as active.
If something goes wrong
