Set up forwarding and an out-of-office reply

Create an info@ forwarder to your main mailbox and schedule an automatic vacation reply.

What you’ll need

  • DirectAdmin access
  • An existing mailbox to forward to

Forwarders let one inbox receive mail for several addresses. Vacation messages reply automatically while you’re away and switch themselves off.

Steps

  1. Step 1: Create the forwarder

    Open E-mail Manager then Forwarders → Create Forwarder. Name: info. Destination: your main address. Save. How to set up email forwarding

  2. Step 2: Test the forwarder

    From an outside account, email info@yourdomain.co.uk and check it arrives in your main mailbox.

  3. Step 3: Create a vacation message

    Open E-mail Manager then Vacation Messages, pick your mailbox, write a short reply with your return date and an alternative contact, and set the start and end times. Autoresponders and out-of-office replies

  4. Step 4: Test the vacation message

    Set the start time to now, send yourself a message from an outside account and confirm the reply arrives. Then correct the start time to the real date.

Check it worked

Mail to info@ lands in your main inbox, and a test message during the vacation window receives exactly one automatic reply.
