A dashboard for your hosting account
DirectAdmin is a web-based control panel that sits between you and the server your website lives on. Instead of managing files, databases, and email through the command line, you get a dashboard of clickable tools — file manager, email accounts, database creation, backups, and one-click app installers — all in one place.
It's the same category of software as cPanel or Plesk, and if you've used either before, DirectAdmin will feel immediately familiar. If this is your first control panel, the learning curve is short: most tasks are a handful of clicks and a form.
The screens you'll actually use
Realistically, most hosting accounts only ever touch four or five sections of DirectAdmin:
- File Manager — upload, edit, and organise the files that make up your website without needing separate FTP software.
- Softaculous — install WordPress or another application in a couple of clicks rather than uploading it manually.
- Email Accounts — create addresses on your domain and configure them in Outlook, Gmail, or a phone's mail app.
- Databases — create and manage the MySQL databases that power WordPress and most other web applications.
- SSL Certificates — issue and renew the certificate that puts the padlock in a visitor's browser.
Where DirectAdmin fits with Traxio
Every Traxio hosting account — including the free tier included with a domain — comes with a DirectAdmin login. There's nothing extra to install or configure; the panel is provisioned automatically the moment your hosting is active, with your domain already connected.
Softaculous is bundled in, so installing WordPress, a forum, or another common application is a guided process rather than a manual file upload.
Getting comfortable quickly
The fastest way to get oriented is to do one small, low-risk task first — create a test email address, or upload a single file through the File Manager — rather than reading through every menu before touching anything. DirectAdmin's layout is consistent enough that once one section makes sense, the rest follow the same pattern.
If something doesn't behave as expected, Traxio's knowledge base and support tickets cover the DirectAdmin side of hosting specifically, separate from anything related to your own site's code or theme.
