FileZilla is a free file transfer app for Windows, Mac and Linux.
Using Site Manager
Open File → Site Manager → New site, then choose one of these setups.
SFTP (recommended)

| Host | Your domain, or the server address from your welcome email |
| Port | 26628 |
| Logon Type | Normal (or Ask for password) |
| User | Your DirectAdmin username |
| Password | Your DirectAdmin password |
FTP with TLS
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Protocol | FTP – File Transfer Protocol |
| Host | ftp.yourdomain.co.uk or your domain |
| Port | 21 |
| Encryption | Require explicit FTP over TLS |
| User | DirectAdmin username, or a full FTP account name like dev@yourdomain.co.uk |
| Password | That account’s password |
Select Connect. On first connection FileZilla asks you to trust the server’s key or certificate — check the host is correct and accept.
Transferring files
- Left panel: your computer. Right panel: the server.
- Navigate the right panel to
domains/yourdomain.co.uk/public_html. - Drag files between panels.
- The queue at the bottom shows progress and any failures to retry.
Tips
- Set Transfer → Transfer type → Binary if images arrive corrupted (Auto normally works).
- Avoid “Normal” plain FTP without encryption: your password travels readable.
- Don’t save passwords in FileZilla on shared computers.
