Do I need a VPS or is shared hosting enough?

Quick answerBeginnerUpdated

Short answer

Shared hosting is enough for the overwhelming majority of sites. Move to a VPS when you genuinely need root access, custom server software, or consistent resources under sustained load — not because a site feels slow, which is nearly always caching or image sizes.

This is a general web-hosting explanation, not specific to Traxio.

The hidden cost of a VPS is that you become the system administrator: security patches, backups and a misconfiguration taking the site down are all yours. That is a fair trade when you need the control and a poor one when you do not.
