How the 30-day free trial works

What you get during the free 30 days, what happens on day 31, and exactly when an unpaid account is suspended or removed.

ReferenceBeginner2 min readUpdated

Every Traxio account starts with 30 free days on the full plan. There’s no reduced trial version and no card is needed to begin.

During the 30 days

You get exactly what paying customers get: 3GB of NVMe disk space, 100GB of bandwidth a month, DirectAdmin, email on your domain, free SSL, databases, Softaculous and backups. Nothing is charged, and no payment method is stored unless you choose to add one.

Connect your domain first. During the first 30 days, DNS Guard checks that the account’s domain points to Traxio, and an account whose domain hasn’t pointed here for 24 hours in a row (and is at least 48 hours old) can be suspended until it does. DNS Guard: why your domain needs to point to Traxio

Then use the time to do your real work rather than just looking around. Install your actual site, send and receive email from your domain, and take and restore a backup once. You’ll learn far more about whether the hosting suits you.

At the end of the free period

An invoice for the first month at £0.99 is issued. What happens next depends on you.

Pay the invoiceHosting carries on unchanged at £0.99 a month
Do nothingThe invoice stays unpaid and the timetable below applies
CancelThe service ends; take a backup first

If an invoice isn’t paid

Counted from the date the invoice was issued:

  • Day 7: the account is suspended. Your website and email go offline, but the data is kept and you can still log in to the client area to pay.
  • Day 14: the account is terminated. Files, databases and email are permanently deleted and can’t be recovered.

You’re emailed before each step.

Important: If you’re not going to continue, download a full backup from DirectAdmin before day 14. How to create and download a full account backup shows how. After termination there is nothing left to restore.

Common questions

The price after the trial is the ongoing price, not an introductory rate, and there’s no VAT or card fee added on top. If you want to stop, How to cancel your Traxio hosting covers doing it cleanly.

Questions people ask

Do I need a credit card for the free trial?

No. No payment method is needed to start, and none is requested until you choose to continue.

Will I be charged automatically when the trial ends?

Only if you have added a payment method. Otherwise an invoice is issued and nothing is taken.

Can I keep my data if I don’t pay?

Data is kept while the account is suspended (from day 7). It is permanently deleted when the account is terminated on day 14 after the invoice date.
