How to point your domain to Traxio (change nameservers)

Connect your domain to Traxio hosting by setting the nameservers at your registrar. What to enter, how long it takes, and what to check first.

Setting your domain’s nameservers to Traxio hands its DNS to your hosting. Your website, email and SSL then work without any further DNS setup.

Tip: Do this as soon as your account is created. During the first 30 days, DNS Guard suspends accounts whose domain hasn’t pointed to Traxio for 24 hours in a row, from 48 hours after signup. DNS Guard: why your domain needs to point to Traxio

Before you change them

If the domain already has email or other services working somewhere else, note down its current DNS records first — especially MX and TXT records. Changing nameservers replaces all of the domain’s DNS. Records you don’t recreate at Traxio stop working. Email stopped working after changing nameservers

Steps

  1. Log in to the registrar where you bought the domain.
  2. Find the domain’s nameserver or DNS server settings. It may be under “Manage DNS”, “Nameservers” or “Advanced”.
  3. Choose the option to use custom nameservers.
  4. Remove the existing entries and enter the three above.
  5. Save.
