What is a CDN and do I need one?

Quick answerBeginnerUpdated

Short answer

A CDN keeps copies of your site in data centres around the world so visitors are served from somewhere near them. Most small sites do not need one, but Cloudflare’s free plan is worth turning on if your audience is spread across continents. Cloudflare is the only CDN Traxio supports.

A CDN helps with distance and with absorbing traffic spikes. It does not fix a slow page — if the page is heavy, a CDN just delivers the heavy page from closer by. Compress the images first.
