What is DNSSEC?

Quick answerBeginnerUpdated

Short answer

DNSSEC adds cryptographic signatures to DNS answers so a resolver can prove a reply really came from the domain’s own nameservers and was not tampered with in transit. It protects the lookup, not the website itself.

This is a general web-hosting explanation, not specific to Traxio.

It has to be configured consistently at the registrar and the nameservers. A mismatch between the two makes a domain fail to resolve entirely — which is why it is worth understanding before turning it on anywhere.
