Short answer
Log in to the client area and open your hosting service — there is a link straight into DirectAdmin, already signed in. You can also go to your server’s DirectAdmin address on port 2222 and use the username and password from your welcome email.
The client area route is the one to use day to day: it avoids having to remember a second password, and it always points at the right server.
The client area and DirectAdmin are two different systems and they do different jobs. Billing, invoices and cancellation live in the client area. Files, email, databases and DNS live in DirectAdmin.
